Mark Compton has had 2 major blows in his life. First he found out that his submissive, and someone he allowed himself to get really close to, was killed at the hands of her replacement. And now, he's just been told that his mother has stage 3 breast cancer and needs a double mastectomy.

When he arrives in New York he's greeted by one of his mother's employees, Crystal. Crystal is blonde, beautiful and doesn't even call him Mr. Compton. She calls him Mark, and for some reason, he lets her. Crystal is everything he doesn't usually like. She's not a brunette, and she doesn't take orders from him, or care that he's technically her boss.  She's just as much of a control freak as he is and she doesn't let him push her around and get under her skin. But instead of wanting to keep his distance he finds himself letting her in and that's something he swore would never happen again.

"I trust this woman more then I trust myself right now. And that scares me in a way that I haven't been scared in a very long time."

Crystal tried to avoid him, thinking out of sight out of mind would work. But quickly realized that's not the case with Mark Compton. Business issues rise that brings her to his hotel door, right after he got out of the shower, and then neither one of them can deny the attraction anymore. Things get very hot and steamy and even though she says it was "just" sex, I think she's not "just" another roll in the bed to Mark

It's really different seeing this side of Mark. Here he's more than just Boss or Master. When it comes to his family, he's real. He has to step out of the bubble of control. Crystal is something new to him, not a submissive that he leaves quivering in his wake, but someone real and open and so much more then he bargained for.

"She's real to me in a way that no one else has felt in too long. In a world that seems painted in false shadows, I need something real in my life right now."
